Spring Break 2018

We were ready to go this time! Everything was packed and stowed and ready for take off. Everything that is except our tandem bicycle. We used to hang it from the ladder on the back of our Bounder, our new Entegra does not have a ladder.  At first Tracey thought he could lay it in on top of some items in the under compartment but it was too tall. Then I thought we could just put it in the back bathroom since we can’t use that one while going down the road, therefore it would not be in the way. However it proved too long to get it in the door and safely over or passed the front seats. So for this trip we will leave it home 😣.

We end up leaving late in spite of being ready as it proved much harder than expected to say goodbye and send my daughter off on a three week trip.  I will miss her terribly.

Finally on the road, we encountered major traffic and at times at a complete stand still.  Not sure what the cause is or was because we saw nothing. Eventually it does loosen up and we are moving at regular freeway speeds.

We stop off in Cave Creek at National Indoor RV. You see our satellite has not worked one day since we bought the RV. So Nicholas has stayed at work on this Saturday morning waiting for us so that he can hopefully fix it. Two and a half hours later still no satellite.    I am not a “happy camper” as the saying goes but we have dinner plans in Las Vegas and need to get on our way. Long story on what could be wrong with the satellite, maybe I will write another story just about that!

There are some crazy drivers on the road but all in all it is a smooth drive to Vegas. We find the RV park, Oasis RV resort, with ease.  The gate is a little narrow especially since they cater to or at least advertise to big rigs. It’s not even the narrowness that is the worst part it is the angle. If you can drive straight through it would be no problem. But there is an angle included and even taking it slow I wasn’t sure the Jeep we are towing would make it unscathed. Tracey maneuvers us safely through the gate up to the guard house.  The guard writes down our license plate number from both the RV and the Jeep and then hands up a piece of paper mumbling something about parking and giving someone that paper. Seriously I understand you may hate your job but either do it or get another one! So we are guessing as to what he was saying since we have to pull away from the gate as there are people behind us.

We guess incorrectly on the first part something about parking and end up parking on the street instead of a parking spot. Oh well nowhere to go and no way to backup so we park right there. Tracey walks the puppy while I head towards a big building about a hundred yards away that I am hoping is where we are supposed to check in.  I guess correctly and get us checked in. I walk back to the RV and give Tracey a hard time for not picking me up.

We circle through the park following the map I was given with our spot marked.  We have no problem getting to the correct row but are having trouble finding and reading the spot numbers. At one point I get out and walk ahead trying to find our spot. Luckily it is only about 5 spots up that I find our spot number.  Tracey pulls a little closer when we decide to unhook the Jeep before trying to pull into the spot we were assigned. I am in the Jeep switching over the transmission and Tracey is unhooking the blue ox when Lenny joins us. It’s dark and sometimes these things about rving can be stressful.  So Lenny says hello, tells us he is close by if we need anything and leaves us to finish up. Laura is going to buy a shirt that says I’m sorry for what I said when we were setting up camp”. Seems pretty fitting hahaha. We get set up and grab some wine and head over to see our friends. Lenny and Laura prepared a wonderful dinner for us. We enjoyed the food almost as much as the company. We watch the UofA win the pac 12 championship while enjoying a great meal! After dinner we enjoy great conversation around the campfire.

Laura and Lenny are pros at this setting up camp thing!  Their site is amazing, so many great ideas.

Sunday morning we get up, lounge around playing with the puppy.  Eventually have breakfast and showers and get ready for the day. We mosey over to see Laura and Lenny.  We visit for a little while, and they are headed home to pick up some things as they have decided to stay at the park a few extra days!  They have some errands to run and we make arrangements for dinner later that evening back at camp.

Tracey and I call for an Uber and head to our favorite lunch spot on the strip, Stripburger.  We pick a table in the bar area in the sun, it is a little overcast and cool so sitting in the sun feels good.  We enjoy a big PBR and decide on two different burgers to share. The food is as good as ever as we relax and people watch.  Not sure there is any better place to people watch than in Las Vegas!

After lunch we walk across the street to the Wynn.  The Wynn is still our favorite place to stay when in Las Vegas on the strip.  They have done some remodeling and changing things around, so we enjoy a walk around chatting about the new and different things we see.  Hard to believe it has been well over a year since we have been to Vegas. We decide to check out some of the slot machines and immediately find “Sons of Anarchy”. We not only like this game we have had some luck at it on previous trips, so Tracey takes a seat.  I only have to wait a few minutes for the person at the second machine to vacate, and I take a seat. I have only spun a handful of times when Tracey hits a pretty good size jackpot! We enjoy the sites and sounds of the machine, especially when we win, for quite awhile before deciding to see what other machines we may like to play.  When we walk away I am down a little and Tracey is up a lot. We find a Willy Wonka machine and play for a few minutes. It is not the machine we really like as it is a new to us one, and proves to be not as much fun. We are off to find more fun. We end up playing a little on the 3D Aladdin, and the Willy Wonka we like. We were on the hunt for Hangover and finally asked an employee to sadly be told they don’t have that game any more.  We walk around the table games but don’t see anything that makes us want to play. We leave just a little down from where we started, okay I am down and Tracey is still up LOL.

We take a taxi over to the Palms as Tracey has a $100 chip from his birthday he needs to cash in.  We are surprised and amazed when we walk in to find a lot of the Palms under construction. We knew they were either bought out or under new management but had no idea renovations were happening.  Don’t get me wrong, it needed it, we just had no idea it was being done. We walk around in amazement at all the changes since we were here last. It seems cleaner and the machines seem new. In fact there are quite a few that are not even up and running yet.  Once we make the full circle chatting about the difference we see, what is there, what is no longer there, we take up seats at what we lovingly refer to as Bubble Craps. We have some fun but the machine is just not hitting or paying out like we like so we decide to call it a day.  We call for an Uber and head back to the RV park.

Once back at the RV we take the puppy for a walk, then grab our drinks, steaks and a salad a I made to share and head over to have dinner with Laura and Lenny.  Of course they have quite the spread set out for us when we arrive. We visit around the fire and then move to the picnic table while Lenny cooks the steaks on the grill.  They share what the did during the day and the projects they have planned. I just love this time to catch up with friends. True blessings. After dinner we enjoy some time around the fire but we aren’t long for calling it a night.  Laura and Lenny have to work in the morning and we have a long drive to Albuquerque.

Goodbyes are tough but we will do this again soon!

We are up early, pack up and hit the road.  One day was not really long enough to be in Vegas or visit with our friends, but we are attempting to pack a lot of miles in on this trip.  We get a good start, not too many crazy drivers, but that doesn’t last long. About an hour outside of Vegas on the 93 traffic slows to a crawl and then a stand still.  Unfortunately it was a bad reason we were sitting in traffic. As traffic starts back at a crawl we merge into one lane and ease by a very recent roll over accident. The van is still upside down in the median, There is an sheriff vehicle on the opposite side of the divided highway and he is attending to a person he has laying outside the van, off a little further away is another person being tended to, but at least she is sitting up and moving her arms and talking.  It is just not a good site. We say a little prayer as we continue by. A little further down the road and we see the emergency vehicles headed toward the crash site. I just wish drivers would take life more seriously and pay more attention. This puts a little damper on our conversation and we are quiet for a bit.

As we get on to interstate 40 Tracey notices his blindspot sensors are flashing on the dash.  As we are trying to figure out why we notice they are also flashing on the side view mirrors. There is nothing in our blind spots so no reason for them to flash at all let alone continue to flash.  We are stopping at the Love’s in Kingman for fuel, so Tracey calls Entegra while we are there. Once we are all fueled up Tracey spends a little time on the phone with Entegra tech support. This is our second interaction with them, first time was not helpful at all. This time however is a totally different story. Nate at Entegra is very helpful and most pleasant on the phone. After much discussion we are all set to be repair during our stay in New Braunfels Texas. I put some black electrical tape over the flashing lights on the dash so that it doesn’t cause Tracey to have a seizure while driving down the road hahaha. We are back on the road and headed toward Albuquerque.

Seemed like a good place to stop our on way to see our kids and grandkids in Texas. It’s a long day of driving which is something we didn’t want to do in this trip, but there is an RV park Tracey had stayed at on his way back from hunting in Montana, that he wants to stay at. Pretty uneventful day of driving which is always a good thing.

As we are nearing Albuquerque our GPS alerts is that our route takes us the last 7 miles on dirt road.  Tracey and I look at each other with puzzled stares. I can’t imagine where this RV park would be, and Tracey is even more confused as he has been to the RV park and there were no dirt roads.  Not to mention he says it is right off the freeway. As we approach the exit we can see the RV park but don’t see any dirt roads. Tracey is still chuckling at the GPS comment as he pulls in to the park.

It’s dark and someone has pulled in just in front of us to check in. Problem being they stopped in the middle of the road and there is no where for us to go.  Luckily the RV park is behind a casino so there should be no traffic back this way unless checking into the park. So we just sit and wait right where we are.  The owners of the rig in our way are still inside the office, and after quite sometime it appears they are just shooting the breeze.  Tracey inches forward a little, okay enough to make them notice and they finally look at the window and realize they are in our way.  They come out and get in their rig, followed by the person who was working in the office who gets in a golf cart and proceeds to lead them to their spot.  We pull forward and off to the side near the curb so we are not in anyone else’s way and wait.  It is a few quick minutes and the golf cart returns.  We get checked in and then lead to our spot.

The park is fairly empty.  Nice wide roads and long pull through spots make for easy arrival in the dark.  We set up and take the puppy for a walk and call it a night.

We have a leisure morning just hanging out and chatting.  We watch a little news, have some breakfast and take the puppy for a long walk, and then over to the dog park and let him run around and explore off the leash.

It is a bit chilly due to the wind, so Ki’oni is sporting his sweater and we are wearing jackets. We return to the RV and do some cleaning up.  We spend a little time answering emails before we walk over to the casino to check it out and have some lunch. We play a few slot machines as we walk the entire casino.  We found a lady ghostbusters slot machine that proved to be fun and a good thing to do to pass some time.  Eventually we decide we are hungry and take another walk around the casino, which is fairly new and clean looking.  Even the smoke isn’t too bad.  We end up at Johnny Rockets for lunch, sitting at the counter.  Staff was not all too attentive and definitely not talkative, but we enjoyed our lunch, shared a shake and returned to the slots.

We left neither up nor down but had a good afternoon of fun together.

We spent the rest of the evening taking walks with the puppy, doing a little work and just relaxing.

Wednesday morning we are packed and on the road midmorning.  Our plan is to make it to Lubbock Texas for the night.

 Our co-pilot Ki’oni.

Our drive is quite different as we are on a two lane highway for most of the drive.  Not sure why the GPS routed us this way I guess mileage wise it is shorter but after a full day of this I would have much rather stayed out on the 40 longer.

Making mental not to not take this highway when we head north to Nebraska. Besides only having one lane going each direction making it very difficult to pass, the road is very, um I am not sure what the correct word would be.  I can relate it to those who have been to the sand dunes with us, we call them whoops. A series of quick small hills, so your quad goes up down up down up down up down in rapid motion, causing most of us to stand up on the quad in a sort of squatting stance to lessen the abuse of said whoops.  Now translate that vision to a 45ft RV going down the road!! At one point I told Tracey I have never felt sick in any RV but I am not sure so I am not going to be sick on this road. The condition of the road made the day seem endless but we did make it to Lubbock unscathed. We find the RV park after one small detour, made a wrong turn as GPS hadn’t caught up to us yet.  We are grateful it is still light out as we check in and maneuver our rig around narrow corners and streets with the park. We find our spot and get pulled in and set up for the night. We discover we have a problem, seems our connection for lights from the RV to the jeep came unhooked somewhere along the way and proceed to drag along the road and mutilate itself.

SO we spend the next 45 minutes calling all over Lubbock attempting to locate a new curly Q that goes from a regular 7 pin to a round 4.  I know that makes no sense if you have never towed anything but otherwise it makes perfect sense. We strike out at the first couple places we call. The next place thinks they have it, but it is a flat 4 not round, but they have an adapter that might work. We keep them in mind and call a few more places. I use google and find a Walmart not too far from the RV park. Our Walmart has a pretty extensive RV section so we head out in hopes of finding what we need. I call another place or two on the drive to Walmart with no real luck.  Walmart proves a disappoint as they have none, not just not the one we need but not any of any kind. Tracey does buy an end similar to ours in hopes he can take it apart and use some parts to repair ours in case we strike out everywhere else. We head to an Oreilly Auto parts store to discover they don’t have it either. We have exhausted our options here in Lubbock because all stores are now closed. (I know I have asked before, but why does everything close so early in Texas?)

We find a BBQ with good reviews and head that way. J&M BBQ did not disappoint.

We met the owner, who lived in Phoenix for awhile and had a nice chat while we decided what to order and waited for them to prepare it to go.  We took it back to the RV and enjoyed the amazing food while trying to fix our tow light cord, as you can tell I don’t know the proper name of it!

The next morning we have failed at trying to rebuild our cord and no luck finding a new one so we decide we will be traveling to Fredericksburg sans lights on the jeep.  It is daylight and the RV is big enough you can’t miss it, so although not ideal we take off towards our next stop. Along the way our son Chris calls and he happens to be at camping world finishing up details on their new rig, so I ask him to see if they have the cord we need and bring it with them if they do.

The road from Lubbock to Fredericksburg was much better than our experience yesterday, still mostly just two lane but at least no whoops.  We did see some beautiful scenery, pass through a couple of tiny towns, some one lane bridges over actual water (if you are from Arizona you will understand why that was a big deal), and were even stopped by a train just outside a tiny town.  Not sure why trains intrigue me so much, it is almost mesmerizing. We have been driving for awhile when we were stopped just outside of a town by a railroad crossing, flashing red lights and arms coming down. It was a pretty lengthy train, and we had been sitting for quite awhile when Tracey put the coach in park and decided to take advantage and use the restroom. As he is in the back, I am trying to look for the end of the train.  You see up to this point I have not driven our new rig and to be honest I am a little intimidated by its size. So I am fearful the train will end and I will have to drive. As the end of the train approaches and I am getting up and shooing Ki’oni out of the driver’s seat, shaking in my flip flops, Tracey comes running back up front. My Hero!!!

Chris Rachel and the girls make it to Fredericksburg a little before we do so they are pretty well set when we arrive.  Our spots are right next to each other, one of the main reasons we picked this park. The girls are so excited as they see us pulling in, hard to contain them and keep them out of the way to wait until we are parked. We get parked and before setting up have to run out and get hugs from our babies.   Can never get too many hugs that is for sure. We have some briefs conversation with the girls before getting the tour of their new trailer. It is so nice and suits their needs much better than their last one.

Rachel is going to cook some dinner so we head out to get our RV set up.

Once we are set up the kids come over for a tour of ours, as they haven’t seen it yet.  Tracey gives the tour showing them all the reasons we picked this one, then we head back over to theirs to have some dinner.

Chris was able to get us the “cord” we need to have lights on the jeep so we are feeling much better about the rest of our trip.  We had some things shipped to their house and they brought them to us. Remember those solar lights and fire pit, Lenny and Laura had?  I ordered those from Amazon and had them shipped to Chris’ house so we would have them for the rest of our trip! Chris said good thing I called to warn him about the packages being delivered or he would have called the cops!  Yes made no sense to me either, guess I need to watch the news more. Chris informed us there were package bombs going off injuring and killing people in and around the Austin area, not too far from their home. Police were asking everyone to notify them if a package showed up and they hadn’t ordered anything.  How awful! What is wrong with people, to take innocent lives like that, just awful. Thankfully I notified them I ordered things to be delivered to their house, I guess.

We set up two of the solar lights, breaking the rules, as we were not supposed to stick anything in the grass area between the campsites. (they are trying to get the grass to grow)  They are awesome lights and we enjoy catching up while sitting outside after the girls go to bed.

We love camping, we love our new RV, we love spending time with our family.  We are very blessed.

We love being slow moving in the mornings when we are traveling.  Leisurely get up, enjoy our tea and coffee, play with the dog, chat, perhaps check emails, maybe a little work, eventually have breakfast and get ready for the day.  So not everyone is like that, hahaha, especially when you are 5 and 7 and oh yeah there is a two hour time difference. The girls were already playing at the playground across from our camp spots for awhile before they came a knocking on our door.   Such a joy to see their happy faces in the morning, sure do miss getting to see them regularly. They come in and visit, grab a snack even though they just ate, and I break out some Lego sets we brought them (thanks Lauren!!)

I sit on the floor to help Norah build her Lego set.  Had so much fun helping her, but big mistake sitting on the floor!  I am way to old for that, every part of my body hurt and I needed help getting up Haha.  On the flip side Norah and I built an awesome horse stable!! Lilah built hers almost entirely on her own!  She had Papa help her on a couple pieces, but her cupcake bakery was cute. Chris came over at one point and prodded us to get ready for the day.  He is an early riser and with the time difference it makes it seem like we sleep have the day away.

Tracey and I get ready and we all load into Chris’ truck and head into the quaint town of Fredericksburg.  Our first stop is Fat Ass Winery.

I had to go just because of the name. There is a story behind the name and it is pretty funny, be sure to check them out online www.fatasswine.com or in person next time you are in the area.

The girls love running around the grounds and petting the donkey (getting ideas about the name yet? Well you would be wrong)

We take our tastings and sit outside since it is early and the weather is nice.

Rachel has a sangria, Tracey and I each try a different red wine, and Chris has a can of whoop ass, which is a carbonated red wine.

So here is the story for you to read about how the winery got it’s name.

I wasn’t too impressed with my first glass so opt for a different wine the second glass.  Tracey thought his was okay and sticks with it and Rachel has more Sangria, Chris said his was okay but at 12.5% he stuck with one as he is driving. Overall it is just okay, but loved the story and the grounds, and the best part was having the owner come out and talk to us while we were sitting outside.  We take some photos and load back in the truck for our next adventure.

(Chris I sure am glad I didn’t stand under the FAT sign)

This time we stop at a bigger winery, Messina Hof. This one has a very large tasting room and store. We purchase our tastings and are issued wooden nickels. We are to use these nickels to “pay” for our tastings. You can pick from a large selection, most tastings are one nickel but there are a few that require two nickels.  We are able to get the girls some grape juice so they can partake in our tasting event. We gather around a table just off the corner of the tasting bar and begin to checkout the menu. Even after just one tasting, we all agree this is more to our liking that our first stop. Chris walks the girls outside at one point to check things out. It has warmed up enough we elected to stay inside for the tastings.  Tracey and I strike up conversation with a couple at the tasting bar, no surprise there. They share their likes and dislikes as they have been here several times before. They made a couple of recommendations and they did not disappoint. We end up buying some wine to take home, we had a great white wine that we think Tracey’s Mom and our good friend Michelle will really enjoy. We end up with a 6 pack carrier of wines.  Chris and Rachel bought some wine for themselves and an upcoming holiday meal they are preparing and I think they even joined the wine club.

We decide we are hungry and need to find a place for lunch.  We leave the winery and head down the main street of Fredericksburg. We found parking on a side street in Fredericksburg and walked down the mainstreet looking for a place to eat some lunch.  We happened upon a cute mexican american cafe with a great patio area. We were seated almost immediately on the patio and what a treat, a live band was playing.  We enjoyed lunch while listening to some music.    After lunch we did some window shopping and headed back to camp.  The girls enjoyed more playground time, while the adults relaxed with adult beverages.

Happy St Patty’s Day!! After our usual relaxed morning and spending some time chatting with the girls, we head into town to do some shopping.  I don’t think anyone is looking for anything specific so we just meander in and out of shops along the mainstreet. We have fun trying on cowboy boots (mighty disappointed they didn’t have any in Lilah’s size), hats and looking at the funny saying on t-shirts.

After completing one side of the street it is getting warm and we decide we are ready for some lunch. We find a brewery that looks good, but find out there is over an hour wait. We go ahead and put our name on the list and head inside to the waiting area to stay out of the heat.  The “waiting” area is as big as the restaurant, and full of picnic tables, tvs and even a bar. They should serve out here! Or at least have a self serve snack bar to enable folks to eat out here and not wait to be seated in the “restaurant” part. Chris decides he is going to walk the street and see if there is another place we could get seated sooner.  It isn’t long before he calls and has found a place that will seat us immediately. We gather our belongings and head out and across the street to meet up with Chris. It isn’t a brewery but the menu looks okay.  Our waiter was new on the job but about halfway into our meal, he loosened up and provided pretty good service. We even had green beer! After our meal we do some more window shopping and walking around.  We found the popcorn emporium, it intrigued us so we had to check it out. We bought some popcorn for later (it wasn’t as good as we had hoped), then we found a little farmers market shop and bought some mango chipotle sauce to use with our cream cheese at our next camping happy hour.  We cross back to the other side of the street and pop into an ice cream shop for dessert. What a treat for all. The girls sure enjoyed their ice creams, one was the first one done and one was the last, can you guess which?  Once we are all done, we head back out to walk along the shops some more.  We love listening to the girls tell us all about what they are seeing. We find a fudge and candy store and of course have to go in. We each end up getting a treat to take back to camp with us. Just a little more walking and we are back at the truck, although someone didn’t think she could walk one more step.  Load up and back to camp we go.

It is Sunday and time to head home for the kids have to go to work tomorrow and the girls both have school.  The girls have elected to ride home with us. We remind Chris of the story he told about his drive to Fredericksburg and we don’t want to go back that way!!  He assures us he will not lead us that way and we are off. Drive was nice and uneventful. We exit ahead of Chris and Rachel as we are going directly to the RV park and they are head home.  We assure them the girls will be fine hanging with us while they unpack and take their trailer back to storage.

We pull into the RV and unhook the jeep.  We were unsure whether or not we could get in and out with the big rig, where the office is located.  The girls and I load up in the jeep and drive back to the office and get us all checked in. We scope out the pools and jacuzzi and a game room along the way.  We drive back over where Tracey has already made friends with other campers. We figure out which spot is ours and Tracey circles around to pull in. He gets about half way in and it looks like he is not going to make it.  He stops and gets out. A couple other campers come over and they all have a discussion. I figure there are enough indians there they don’t need another, so I stay put in the jeep with the girls. It is decided that Tracey will circle around and turn down the other side of the spot and go passed it and then back into it.  Us girls wait patiently in the jeep as the men folk offer all their help and opinions to Tracey. It actually all went very smoothly. There was just a big tree at the back of the spot that he could not clear went pulling in to the pull through spot, so he simply made it a back in spot and all was well.

We get set up and the girls are hungry, but mom and dad are not here yet.  So we get a little snack out and turn on the tv for them to watch, you know so they aren’t bored.  Tracey falls asleep in one of the recliners and the girls and I chit chat, play with Ki’Oni and watch a little tv.  Chris and Rachel are not much longer, but even with them showing up Tracey doesn’t stir. I know that driving the big rig wears him out so we let him sleep for a bit before deciding we are all too hungry to wait any longer.  Unfortunately Norah takes that as a cue to wake up Papa and gets the scare of her life. The lingering effects of PTSD, it is not a good idea to wake Papa by jumping on his legs. He quickly realizes he has scare Norah and apologizes.  We attempt to explain it to her, but hey she is only 5 . Once she recovers and Papa is fully awake we head out to dinner. Can’t remember where we were going, but that changed along the way and Chris called to tell us the new choice Clear Springs, which is one of our favorites. We have a great dinner and head back to their house to visit for a little while.  The girls take their showers and get ready for bed. Mommom gets to rub oils on their feet, a special bonding time for sure. We stay and visit with Chris and Rachel after the girls go to bed, but it isn’t long before we are all yawning and wanting to head to bed. We say our goodbyes and head back to the RV.

Tracey and I hang out at the RV park all morning, enjoying quiet time and getting some work done.  We have had a ton of real estate business going on, while on the road this trip so we have had to make a tough decision to cut our trip short and head home.  We will get the blind spot sensors fixed tomorrow and then head home on Wednesday morning. Business calls, we answer. We meet up with Rachel and the girls in the late afternoon.  We are blessed to watch Norah in her dance class and Lilah in her gymnastics class. We are very proud of both the girls. Makes us sad we don’t live closer and get to experience this on a regular basis.  After the classes are over, we meet up with Chris for dinner.  We enjoy sitting outside on the patio, having a drink and some great food at another of our favorite places, the Gristmill in Gruene.    We part ways after hugs and kisses, as they head home and we head back to the RV park.

Tuesday morning we load up and take the rv over to Seguin RV where Entegra has sent parts and made arrangements for our coach to be repaired.  It is easy to find and enter which is nice. We find someone who works there and explain who we are and he takes Tracey over to the office. The wind is blowing hard and cold so after I walk Ki’Oni we sit inside the RV.  Tracey comes back out and we unhook the jeep and wait for a service tech to meet with us. Once that is done we take the jeep and head over to Chris and Rachel’s house. The service tech said his goal was to have it done by lunch time.  We visit with Rachel for a little bit, ask if Ki’Oni can stay and play with Finn and Libby and we head out to lunch. We received a call from the service tech who says something has come up would it be okay if our rig was not ready until about 1:30.  Whew we sure were expecting the worst! We enjoy our lunch, just the two of us. The burgers were really good and they had TOTS!!!  After lunch we head back to Seguin RV to pick up our coach. It is done and ready to go when we arrive. We go into the office, sign a receipt saying the work is done, hook up the jeep and drive away.  Entegra that is good service!! We get back to the RV park and get set up once again. We enjoy a brief rest before heading off to meet everyone at Norah’s soccer practice. She and her team look a little different than last year. They are a little less of a cluster around the ball and more of a position team. We watch them run drills and exercises and then scrimmage.  They are 5 year olds and oh so cute out there.

After soccer we stop for dinner before heading back to the house. We are happy to see our little Ki’Oni, it was a long day away from him but he had a great time with Finn and Libby. We love our time with our family and it is never easy saying goodbye. We truly miss being a part of their everyday lives, but we are blessed to be able to visit as much as we do.  We get a good night’s rest as we head home in the morning.

We are on the road by about 10am on Wednesday heading toward home. The drive is not too bad even though at times it is very windy.  We are getting some wind noise up near the windshield. It is minimal when there is no wind or we are within the confirms of a city.  But here on the open road, it seems very loud. I run my hand around the edge of the windshield in an attempt to figure out where the wind is coming through.  I think I can feel it, so I stand as Tracey drives down the I-10 and do the best I can to take pictures of what I am seeing at the location I can feel the air.  I also take a couple of videos trying to capture the sound as well as the split I can visualize in the seal around the windshield. Since the service department couldn’t find it the last time it was in the shop, we are hoping these pics and videos help.

We know we are not going all the way home in one day, but we know we do not want to stay this side of or within the city limits of El Paso.  I start a search for a campground that I think will be convenient and easy for us to get into. I find a great KOA just west of El Paso and give them a call.  The lady who answered assured me they had plenty of room and explained how their night check in works. It proved easy access, to the park as well as the spots once inside the park.  We pick an empty spot and get hooked up. I fill out the paperwork and put it and our money into an envelope and slip it through the slot in the door as instructed. We fix some dinner, watch a little tv, walk the dog before calling it a night and heading to bed.

We are sad to cut our trip short but happy to be home and taking care of business!!  We got to welcome our daughter home from Australia and enjoy some quality time with her, help our son Cody purchase his first home and see the two puppies we left home with our amazing house sitter Chance.

We are off to Country Thunder next week but then our coach goes in the shop for all the bugs the maiden voyage brought out.  Thanks for joining us on this journey and we hope to catch up with you all very soon!
