Our love for Texas started completely on a whim. With three weeks free and no destination in mind, we headed for Interstate 10 and made a simple decision—turn left. Living in Arizona, that choice led us east into Texas and the beginning of a relationship with the Lone Star State that continues to this day. What began as a spontaneous road trip quickly became one of our favorite places to visit, offering new experiences, beautiful scenery, and plenty of reasons to return.
These days, our trips to Texas are even more special because our oldest son and his family call New Braunfels home. We visit whenever we can, and each trip reminds us why we fell in love with the state in the first place. We enjoy the green landscapes, towering trees, and lush grass that are such a contrast to the Arizona desert. We appreciate the changing seasons, the cooler temperatures, and the thunderstorms that bring the kind of rain we rarely see at home. Most of all, we love the people. Everywhere we’ve traveled in Texas, we’ve been met with genuine friendliness and hospitality. Through the stories that follow, we’ll share the places we’ve explored, the adventures we’ve enjoyed, and the many reasons Texas continues to draw us back year after year.
