Florida is one of those states that we’ve visited several times, yet somehow still feel like we’ve barely begun to explore. If it weren’t for the distance from home, we’re certain it would be a destination we visited much more often. Like many families, our first experiences with Florida were centered around the magic of Disney. Over the years, we’ve made wonderful memories there—from gathering a group of 17 family members in an Airbnb for a week-long Disney adventure to traveling by RV and spending two unforgettable weeks at Disney’s Fort Wilderness with family.
Not all of our trips to Florida have been focused on vacation. One visit was simply for a specialized medical appointment, reminding us that travel often takes us to places for reasons we never expect. On another trip, we had every intention of venturing beyond the theme parks and finally exploring more of what Florida has to offer. Unfortunately, both of us came down with the illness that seemed to affect everyone during that time, and our sightseeing was limited to occasional glimpses of the Sunshine State through the windows of our RV.
Even with our limited exploration, Florida continues to call us back. Between its beautiful coastlines, diverse landscapes, vibrant cities, and endless opportunities for adventure, we know there is so much more waiting to be discovered. We also have friends who call Florida home, and visiting them remains high on our travel wish list. For now, Florida remains a state filled with wonderful memories, unfinished plans, and plenty of reasons for us to return someday.
