Welcome to South Carolina travel that started with a bittersweet family move, not a vacation. Our first trip to South Carolina wasn’t exactly a vacation. We made the long journey to Charleston to help our daughter move across the country.
As our only daughter and the last child to leave the nest, it was a bittersweet adventure for us. She had caught the travel bug and was eager to experience a new part of the country while rekindling a relationship with a special young man. While saying goodbye was difficult, we felt excited to see her begin a new chapter of her life. If you’re planning your own trip, the official Discover South Carolina site is a great place to start.
A Second Welcome to South Carolina Travel Experience
Because the move kept us busy, we only had a small glimpse of what South Carolina had to offer. Even so, it didn’t take long for the state to leave an impression on us. Everywhere we looked seemed to tell a story. From Charleston’s cobblestone streets and historic homes to the rich culture and traditions all through the region, we found history surrounding us at every turn.
The pace, the people, and the culture felt wonderfully different from what we knew back home in the Southwest, and we knew we had only scratched the surface.
When we returned for a second visit, South Carolina did not disappoint. We discovered even more of the state’s beauty, charm, and fascinating history. The coastal scenery was stunning, the hospitality was genuine, and the food was some of the best we’ve experienced anywhere in our travels. South Carolina quickly became more than just the place where our daughter started her new adventure. It became a destination we fell in love with ourselves, one we look forward to exploring again and again. You can follow this state and every other one on our travel map.
